- “Free gift”
- “Free Upgrade

“SEARCH RULES” FOR EFFECTIVE SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET (Part-1)
Posted by Ustaani in Forms, Introduction, Search rules on March 26, 2009
A few concepts to keep in mind for your search to be more effective:
• Google looks for WORDS, not meaning
When conducting a search, think about how a word would be used in context and in web pages.
• Keywords are specific and unique
Do not use common, generic, search words, also known as keywords. Use definite, precise keywords. If you can select unusual words related to your topic or item, the more effective your search.
• Alternate words forms: singular, plural, and alternate
To get the most extensive results that use your unique keywords, try using alternative form of the same word. An example: clothes OR clothing.
• Using quotes to search for the exact term
An example: “Digital camera”, “point and shoot digital camera”, “slr digital camera”
Try these out when you next do any search on Google, it will help you find what you are looking for a lot more easier and hopefully make YOU a better deal finder.
“SEARCH RULES” FOR EFFECTIVE SEARCHING ON THE INTERNET (Part -2)

Google “search operators” to keep in mind for your search to be more effective:
SEARCH OPERATOR:
Definition: Terms that are used to narrow or broaden a search. Some common search operators are the Boolean operators AND, OR, NOT
· AND
The AND operator tells Google to join two keywords in a search. The operator AND must be all uppercase.
Example: Black AND car, will search for anything where black and car appear together in a search
· OR
The OR operator matches any of the keywords joined with this operator in a search.
Example: Car OR truck OR SUV would search for any page that contains any of these words.
· +
The “plus” sign operator makes sure that Google includes words such as common words “and,””for,” “the,” and most punctuation marks.
Example: photography+landscape+portrait will yield results for landscape and portrait photography
· -
The “negative” sign operator makes sure that Google excludes results that do not have the specified keywords “and,””for,” “the,” and most punctuation marks.
Example: photography-landscape-portrait will yield results for all kinds of photography BUT landscape and portrait photography, so landscape and portrait keywords are excluded in the search.
· “ “
The double quotes operator help in searching for the exact phrase or string of words within the quotation marks.
Example: “Black Evening Purse,” “Elizabeth II,” will yield results for the exact term.
